Four hours until Robert came on and well, well, well worth the wait! What an absolutely amazing show. The other bands played very short sets (Ian’s was a bit longer) and pretty well just did their “hits.” A few of them played a Love tune, though the only one I recognized was Nils Lofgren doing Alone Again Or pretty true to the original. Not Robert - he really worked a set list that was not only paying homage to Arthur Lee, but chose other songs that fit the era from which Love was popular. Continue reading

I just got back from France a few days ago and was able to see Robert and the SS in Lille! It was a great concert! Although, it was a marathon getting to the concert! My friend and I left SF Calif. at 3:40 pm on the 20th, and arrived in Paris at 11:30 am their time on the 21st! We caught a cab to our Paris Hotel, and than ran to take the metro to the train station to catch our train to Lille, then taxi to our Lille hotel, caught a nap and then got ready and headed off to the concert!

But it was definitely worth it! Robert always manages to amaze me! He sounded perfect! The accoustics were great at this small venue. He wore a tee-shirt that showed off his buff arms, and blue jeans that fit nicely. The band sounded great also. The set list was a little different, but mostly the same as earlier in the year. Although, they are still rearranging the songs some. Continue reading

There was a fire in Los Angeles and it took place at the Wiltern. This show was amazing - even more energetic than last night. There’s not much more I can say. When Robert took the stage for Tin Pan Valley, he was all over the stage with a vengance - jumping and doing all these belly dance like moves. This carried on right into Shine It All Around. Robert so clearly loves what he was doing and the band was right in synch with him. Continue reading

I’m truly speechless at this time. I honestly don’t think I can put just how intense this show was properly into words. I’ve been very blessed to have seen many shows on this tour and I feel like each one is better than the one before, if that is even possible. Continue reading

It was an excellent show. It was the first solo show that I ever went to. I saw Page and Plant in ‘95, and this concert blew that one away, even though there were so many more musicians on that tour.

Robert seemed so exuberant that night! So was his band! It was highly contagious. The entire crowd was on thier feet, and quite a few of us were dancing.

The Winery was beautiful, but the security was so tight that it wasn’t my favorite venue of all time. Ste. Michelle does have some really good reisling wine, which I sat on the grass and sipped for a while. Some people seemed to have brought in picnics.

I was very happy with the setlist, and so were many of the people that attended. They were all very enthusiastic. He has a strong following, that’s for sure. He sold out the venue of 4,300 people. It was packed.

The music was intoxicating. Robert and the band were really tight, and right on the groove! Robert looked handsome in his black long sleeved dress shirt and black jeans. He sang Going to California so well, it sounded more heartfelt than it did 25 years ago. I teared up at the depth of emotion he put into that song, and into Thank You. People must have thought I was crazy for crying, but the music touched me so deeply that I just couldn’t help it! It was awesome.

Robert did dedicate “Skips Song” to the band Moby Grape.

It was the best concert I have ever been to, no doubt about it. I only wish that I could have been able to have a closer view of the staqe. That would have made everything just perfect. If you get the chance to see Robert, do it! It will be a night you’ll never forget. I know that I won’t!

Still levitating after the show by Robert and SS last night, (my second time seeing him this year). What a night!!!!

I went with two of my best friends who I have known since high school, my brother and two other good friends. After an energetic set by the Trews the anticipation began to build. We were all seated right down in front and it was a thrill watching the roadies bring out the incense while Lo’Jo and Tinarwen played overhead.

Finally, after the deliciously agonizing SIAA remix intro the band took the stage - the crowd went insane when the band edged its way on stage my friend and I were screaming like teenagers when we first glimpsed Robert!!! Continue reading

July 24, 2005 Greek Theater, Los Angeles, CA

July 24, 2005 Greek Theater, Los Angeles, CA

by Planted in My Mind
It was a perfect summer evening at the Greek. My husband and I had packed a picnic dinner to eat before the concert. The Greek is in Griffith Park, with beautiful trees and lots of picnic tables very close to the entrance to the theatre. We went in 20 minutes before start time and found our seats. They were AWESOME. 6th row center, directly in front of Robert.

The opening band was Little Axe, they were really good. They were comprised of lead and bass guitars with a drummer. Their music was bluesy, funky rock. They played for a half hour or so. During the equipment set up, Tinariwen was being played on the speakers, which is when I started dancing and never stopped for the rest of the evening.

I heard the SIAA remix, and knew things were about to get started. They opened with No Quarter, Robert seemed to appear out of nowhere. The original version is one of my least favorite Zep songs, the new one is fantastic. I brought a pen and piece of paper to write the setlist down, but alas, once the music started I was swept away.

Robert sounded sooo good, his voice is very powerful live. He danced and smiled, and seemed to have a great time with the band, they really do have wonderful chemistry. Justin was great fun to watch, he’s quite a dancer. I forget which song is was, but he wasn’t playing much, and he spent his time doing what looked like a Middle Eastern dance — arms out to the side at shoulder height snapping his fingers and swaying his hips. Around 8.15 pm “Shine It all Around Remix” was played: The place was already full. Before the song ended, I thought: “Oh my God! I’m about to see Robert Plant!” I had so many expectations for this show –being my first Robert Plant concert. I was very excited.

The song ended and the Strange Sensation entered the stage, and went to their instruments: Clive, Justin, John, Skin, Billy… the noise of the crowd was deafning, but I unleashed my howling and yelling until I saw Robert: Black shirt, buttoned (!); silver bracelet in his right wrist; light blue loose fit jeans. Just saw Robert in Oakland last night at the Paramont Theater! What a lovely place for a concert! Its a beautiful historic building and is very small and quaint. Very different from what we saw him in at Vegas. They sounded so much better here just because of the accoustics of the building. The ambiance was wonderful. Much more fitting for Robert, and it showed. He seemed much more into it, and the crowd was very appreciative. We had balcony seats this time third row which was an excellent view point! Very small place, so we could see everything! Although the people in the balcony all sat down most of the time. It was interesting to see it from this view compared to the front row we had in Vegas. As nice as that was, it was good to see it from above and see all that took place on the stage. Continue reading
