We saw Robert last night! What a great show! The Ryman Theater is a very lovely old building. Robert looked great. He had the beard and it is very, very becoming on him. He looked really happy and like he was truly having a ball on stage. He laughed and made lots of gestures (sticking out his chest) in response to a rather well-endowed young lady in the audience. I was adding up the Robert shows I have been lucky enough to have attended last night and I believe this was show 15. I have to say in all the times I have seen Robert perform, he seemed like he was having more fun at this show than any other time before. He and the Strange Sensations did a little “chorus line” dance at the end too. He was in a very silly mood and everyone enjoyed him so much. The theater was rocking. I looked around me during the concert and in one section saw about five young teenage boys, around 13 or so, head-bobbing and having a blast. In another section were older couples who were dancing and singing along. It was great to see so many different ages and types of people just grooving on Robert. I wrote down the set-list but somehow misplaced it. I hope some other MN person will have it. Robert had on some jacquard tonal print pants and a black tuxedo shirt. It appears that he is letting his hair grow out a bit. Whatever he’s doing, I hope that he keeps it up because he looks so joyful and lively, not to mention VERY handsome. Continue reading

Well, well, well…I didn’t think it could get any better than last night but it did. Absolutely unbelievable show. The crowd was much better tonight as well and really embraced the new material which I was happy about. From the minute the Shine It remix kicked in, everyone went crazy with anticipation. Robert chatted much more tonight than he did last night. No tea at all so I hope that’s a sign he’s feeling all better (sigh). Continue reading

You would not have ever known Robert was sick enough to cancel a show 2 days ago other than the cuppa that he nursed throughout the show. He had more energy tonight than I think i’ve ever seen him. From the moment he took the stage, clad in brick red pants and a black button down tuxedo style shirt, he was on fire dancing and jumping and spinning like crazy! I almost feel no matter what I write, it will not do this show justice. Absolutely phenomenal. Continue reading

June 22, 2005, Tower Theater, Upper Darby PA
by Keeperofthecrag
What a nice job the folks in UpperDarby did with their restoration of a post-depression era Vaudville theatre. If you’re from the school of “Rock As Theatre Act”, the Tower is the place to go.
The “hidden track” Shine remix is lifted right from the CD and pumped through the PA system in the now dark theatre. Red lights illuminate the stage for what seems like forever. And that was just fine with me. I always liked the pre-recorded concert intro stuff - gets back to that “Theatrical Event” mindset of mine.
Robert and Company saunter onstage and dosn’t He pull a fast one….. Continue reading

He was phenomenal, blew the whole (packed) place away both nights. Plus we are not used to having Rock Gods here so it was Hot. Friday set was No Quarter, Shine it all around, Black Dog, Freedom Fries, Morning Dew, That’s the Way, Tin Pan Alley, Takamba, Gallows Pole, Mighty Rearranger, When the levee breaks, The Enchanter and Whole Lotta Love - the last two were encores. The whole place was expecting Zeppelin and they weren’t disappointed. He did them in his current style though which was wonderful. Saturday was If I ever get lucky, Shine it all around, Black Dog, Freedon fries, Babe I’m gonna leave you, If I was a carpenter, Another tribe, Takamba, Gallows Pole, Tin Pan Alley, When the levee breaks, the enchanter and whole lotta love as encores again. He was looking really good–loose shirt and trousers–and very relaxed. He said he would be coming back and the place erupted! I just can’t believe he was here. My daughter came to both shows—she’s eighteen and has listened to Robert since before she was born, she thought he was fantastic!
