April 18, 2005: Stockholm, Sweden

April 18, 2005 Cirkus, Stockholm, Sweden

Robert has been to all these places in Europe in just a short period of time, and Stockholm was one of them; lucky me was there. This was written while I still was on cloud 9.

The show was just fantastic, Robert and TSS were brilliant. The venue of 1500 seemed quite full. For me this was a great happening, not only a concert.

I was thrilled, amazed, moved and uplifted to higher grounds..standing in second front row in the middle..what a view. Loved the getting ready stuff; Rave intro-Shine mix, inscence in the air (inhaled it) and magic carpet rolled out.
The feeling was already intense and magic as the band came out on stage. From that time this feeling only could grow. As Robert came out at last, people were hysterical with joy. And from then on I just felt transcended .Robert singing, doing his moves, playing the harmonica (Mighty Rearranger). He is in great shape, his voice just awesome, and his stage charisma is uncomparable. The Strange Sensation play great together, and are really charming on stage. Goes well with Robert! Justin is in front with Robert most of the time and is really funny and entertaining, Skin more at the back, both great guitarists.

I’m not commenting all the songs here, but the setlist was pretty much the same as described from the recent shows.

The new CD was still not out at this time, and most people didn’t know these songs. It was a great experience to have some of the new material presented being that fresh. People seemed to enjoy it very much, I just loved it…and I assure you, this will even grow on you; it’s so captivating, and such a well done mix of styles and rythms. For the older songs, I’m always happy to get a LZ dose, but a tad surprised we don’t get more from his solo stuff, (such a treasure box, that is..)However, it was cool how the band made flowing arrangements from older to newer songs.

Seems like they have a lot of fun together while playing, showing good chemistry on stage. Robert of course had a few of his funny anecdotes and made us laugh a lot. As after introducing his band mates he said of himself, while keeping a drink in his hand (probably his cuppa tea)..”and me..I’m Dean Martin..” He was making both sexy and funny moves with the mic, and throwing it high up in the air. Well, you know the way only he can do those things. As he left the stage he said (I think) “remember you can’t touch the hippies” (my husband thought it was “can’t trust the hippies”) funny anyhow !

Oh well, what a magic night!

The story didn’t end here, but I’ll try to shorten it up a bit. The folllowing day a dream turned into reality as I sat next to Robert and the band at an airport cafe. I sort of froze quite stiff though, really not prepared at all; even no lipstick on. Really overwhelming–suddenly the golden god sitting next to me, trying to relax a bit with his mates. I don’t know, the politeness in me can be a bit frustrating sometimes, but I just decided I would let them have their privacy. Felt quite confused though, cause this wasn’t at all how I would’ve acted in my dreams…now, if only my husband hadn’t been there. Oh,well at least I got a good stare. They all seemed so nice, casual and relaxed together. Thank you for a wonderful concert Robert and Strange Sensation.
