To give you an idea of how amazing this new album proves to be, the crowd at Irving Plaza was incredibly enthusiastic about the new songs. I bring this up because traditionally, New York is a really hard crowd. I’ve seen Robert here many many times and unfortunately, it’s often the old songs that charge them up more.
This time there was a lovely incense burning. Not nag champa as in the past but quite nice. The show opened with the remix of Shine it All Around. It’s the perfect opener because it’s such an intense sound. It’s got this techno energy on top of this Arabic beat and Robert’s powerful vocals. Continue reading

For once in my life, I’m speechless. I got to the club 4 hours early and endured a couple of well, less than enjoyable bands to secure a standing spot 2nd row, right in front of the microphone (there was no messing around after not seeing him perform for almost 4 years). It was well worth the wait. From the moment he stepped on stage, the energy was electric. I think as someone aptly put it, he fits the adage of not getting older, getting better. Not only does he look great (full of smiles) but his presence on stage is stunning. He has all these wonderful squiggly dance moves, and at one point, looked as though he were doing a little belly dancing Lots of hand gestures and that voice, what can I say.
